Rocks, Rocks, Everywhere...
...In my pants and in the air
I haven't been writing much lately and that's because I've been irritated to shit. I've been grumpy and ill tempered and snippy at my girlfriend which is not nice. There have been plenty of those moments recently, where you can see your behavior from the outside and you think, well, that's not nice, but there doesn't seem to be anything you can do to stop it.
This all started just over 3 weeks ago with an equipment failure in spin class, and I'm not talking about the bike. I'm not going to get into the details, but it came from out of nowhere, starting out as a dull ache that made me wonder if my spandex were maybe not adjusted quite right, and increased to that specific kind of nauseating pain that you've only felt if you're a guy.
This worried me a little.
I checked out of class early and checked the boys out in the shower and felt, well, something that wasn't supposed to be there.
So that was bad.
Long story short, 2 regular Dr's office appointments, one urgent care visit and an utlrasound later, I've been given a clean bill of health: no nasty germs, nothing injured, no cancer. So that was a relief. What is not so much a relief, and what has turned general nervousness to general irritability as it is explained to me that the actual problem (which is called a hydrocele, and is very uncommon, but harmless, and which I'm not going to tell you about) is just supposed to go away on it's own; or not.
In the mean time, I'm to continue activity as normal, but judging by how much it hurts just to make a sudden move while walking, I will not be going back to spin class, nor running, nor doing any lower body exercise of any kind, which is hardly "activity as normal" for me. I hope it doesn't get in the way of my hike this weekend. I'm hoping the cold will numb it. We'll see

I imagine that a) this is not a blog you were looking for comments on and b) you did your own research but I'm never one to sit on my hands. Wikipedia says that is common, should NOT be painful and usually needs to be surgically handled to reduce risk of infection and prevent other plumbing problems (my words, not wikipedia's). I find doctor's motives suspect in today's HMO & PPO world. take care of yourself because no one else can.
